Autumn Run, Batsford Arboretum

The days are getting shorter but the weather seems to be getting better!

Great to see so many OxMoggers turn out on a beautiful Autumn day to see nature at her best.

Is this the formation of 'LogMog'?

Trixie seems to think that Simmonds have done a good job on her new hood!

Our runs do not always involve eating (well, OK they do!)

Silverstone Classic

After a very wet month it was nice to have a break in the weather to enjoy the Silverstone Classic Weekend.

It was good to join fellow Centres and Morganeers at the Morgan display.

Once you crossed the mud it was good to go to the Morgan stand

Proudly flying our new banner

It doesn't look so wet here..

MSCCH 40th Celebrations, Assen

Several OxMoggers made the journey across the North Sea to drive to Northern Holland to the town of Assen to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of forming the Dutch Club together with the 50th Anniversary of Morgan winning their class at Le Mans 24hr in 1962.

Ready for the ferry at Harwich

Maybe we should have packed a truck instead!

A welcome break from the rain

Hoorn, a welcome spot of sunshine

Back on the road again....

Sea to the left, sea to the right!

Why carry a spare wheel when you can carry a spare car

The sun shone to prove that it can in Holland as well as rain.

Back for the return trip

Are we there yet!

Friars Court, High Tea and Scenic Run

The following is a report from Stu Priest:

To help me with my research into culinary rumours, 42 members of Oxmog and Spotmog convened at Friars Court, Clanfield for a 'Tour and Tea' on Wednesday 06th June 2012. This was Oxfordshire's gastronomic alternative to the other motoring related 'TT' at the Isle of Man. After a brief history of the farm's buildings and surrounding countryside, Charles Willmer gave us an informative and amusing conducted tour of the gardens and eco-friendly projects that are taking place. We then all settled down to a Cream Tea that proved very popular - everything home-made. Speaking personally, it reawakened an interest in strawberry jam,.... and scones,.... and cake,.... and flapjack,.... more jam.......!

Limn Historic Breakfast Run

A change from our usual runs, a Breakfast Run for the early risers. Limn Historic opened their doors to show off their Restoration and Sprayshop facilities and allowed several OxMoggers, CranMoggers and a few other classic car owners to share a cup of tea and bacon buttie.

It was good to see Frank Lomax and hie 'Green Goddess' fresh after his Tour of Britain for the Help for Heroes.

Peter and Michelle came in their lovely Series 1, 'Henrietta'.

Hopefully we can arrange another early morning run to clear the heads during the weekend.

Nuffield Park

On a brighter than feared Saturday several OxMoggers ventured into 'There them Hills' and 'attacked' several hills of the Chilterns.

The Scenic Run had been arranged by Geoff Giles for both ourselves (OxMog) and the Thames Valley Centre. A total of 10 hills were 'bagged' on the route and included several famous for 'Hill Races' during the 1920's and 30's. (Geoff was there!!)

After a fine drive through the dry tree lined roads we arrived at the former home of William Morris (he of Morris Car fame of course) aka. Lord Nuffield . The property is now owned by the National Trust and is certainly worth a visit as it is a 'time capsule' containing many items dating from the time he and his good 'Lady' were there during the 1950's.

Thames Valley had set up camp with Gazebo and 'Three Piece suites' and all had brought a veritable 'Feast' of individual picnics and even Birthday Cakes and was certainly a fitting time to display the odd Union Flag as part of the 'Diamond Jubilee Celebrations'.On the Saturday of the Jubilee Weekend Celebrations several OxMoggers braved the weather and joined with Thames Valley Centre to visit the former home of Lord Nuffield, William Morris "the modest millionaire". Before we all descended on the House we were treated to a delightful Scenic Run around (and Up and Down) several 'Hills' of the Chilterns..truly worth a visit on a sunnier day.

Not only was the house full of fine period furniture left by William Morris and his wife but some interesting things 'lurking in the garage, in the form of an engine and a lovely old Wolseley!

If the Garage wasn't interesting enough William Morris certainly catered for any 'nocturnal tinkering' and had a complete work bench in his wardrobe! In case inspiration struck in the middle of the night

Now I wonder if Sue would approve!
Out of the wind and all set for a 'Summer Picnic' complete with Birthday Cake and Patriotic Bunting (we really are a bunch of optimists!)

the rest of the party formed up in the car park (more arrived later..)

At the end of the day one of the wardens drives off in a lovely Morris and John was left trying to work out how he could fit semaphore indicators to his Roadster...

Well worth a visit.

Drive It Day

Doing what Morganeers do (second) best!
On a less than promising day a few OxMoggers, Dick & Lorraine, Bridget & John, Sue & John, Keith & Rita, Elaine & Mike together with Lynne & Andy from Thames Valley Centre, met at the King William IV at Speen. We enjoyed each others company and a lovely meal before venturing to Bradenham to view the 'Orchard' as part of the National Trust Open Day for Bradenham Manor.

Happy St Georges Day!
The weather had done its worst on the Orchard so a little less than impressive. However the day remained dry (for us at least) and the heavens opened with avengence as I closed the garage door!
